hello
is it possible to change the mac address in this fritz box
I secured the fiber optic cable with a mac address
how to assign mac please tell me ?
Danke

Ask your ISP.
Why has no "working" Router been send for your fiber contract?
And I don't think YOU secured the cable with a Mac. ;)
If so, then simply change that to your Routers Mac.

In a Fritz!Box, changing the MAC address of the WAN (Internet) interface is generally not possible through the standard firmware. AVM does not provide an option to manually set or spoof the MAC address in the web interface.

Possible Workarounds:

1. Check for MAC Cloning Option

  • Open the Fritz!Box web interface:
  • Go to Internet > Account Information > Connection Settings
  • Look for an option related to "MAC Address" or "MAC Cloning"
  • If available, enter the desired MAC address and apply the settings

Note: Most Fritz!Box models do not have a MAC cloning option in the standard firmware.

2. Use a Custom Firmware (Freetz)

If the Fritz!Box does not allow MAC changes, you can modify the firmware using Freetz (a custom firmware for Fritz!Box).

Warning: This requires advanced knowledge and may void your warranty.

Steps:

  1. Install Freetz on your Fritz!Box (requires firmware modification).
  2. Access the shell/SSH of the router.
  3. Use the command:
ip link set dev eth0 address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Replace xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with your desired MAC address.

3. Use an External Router with MAC Cloning

If you cannot modify the MAC address on the Fritz!Box, another solution is to use a separate router (e.g., OpenWrt, MikroTik, or another brand with MAC spoofing support).

Steps:

  1. Connect the external router to the Fritz!Box WAN port.
  2. In the external router's settings, find MAC Cloning/Spoofing.
  3. Set the MAC address you need.
  4. Connect the external router to your fiber connection.

Conclusion

  • Standard Fritz!Box firmware does not allow MAC address changes.
  • Freetz (custom firmware) allows changes but requires advanced setup.
  • Using an external router with MAC cloning is the easiest and safest solution.

I need to be able to assign not only a MAC address but also an IP number

If I could change my Mac, I would definitely have internet

What do you need this for anyway?

Since your fiber optic connection is locked to a specific MAC address, you need a way to spoof the MAC address and possibly set a static IP. Unfortunately, most Fritz!Box routers do not support MAC address changes via the standard firmware. However, here are your best options:

Option 1: Use an External Router with MAC & IP Spoofing (Recommended)

If your Fritz!Box cannot change the MAC address, the best solution is to use an external router (such as OpenWrt, MikroTik, or pfSense).

Steps to Set MAC & IP on an External Router:

  1. Connect an external router (e.g., OpenWrt, MikroTik, pfSense) to the fiber modem.
  2. Find the MAC cloning option in the router's web interface:
    • For OpenWrt: Network > Interfaces > WAN > Override MAC Address
    • For MikroTik: Interfaces > WAN > MAC Address
  3. Set the correct MAC address (the one registered with your ISP).
  4. Set a static IP address (if required by your ISP).
    • If your ISP requires a specific static IP, configure it under WAN settings.
  5. Connect the external router to your Fritz!Box (optional):
    • Fritz!Box can act as an access point behind the external router.
    • Disable DHCP on the Fritz!Box to avoid conflicts.

Option 2: Use a Computer as a "MAC/IP Spoofing Gateway"

If you do not have an external router, you can use a Linux PC as a temporary gateway to spoof the MAC and assign an IP manually.

Steps (on a Linux Machine)

  1. Change the MAC address manually:

sudo ip link set dev eth0 down
sudo ip link set dev eth0 address 00:11:22:33:44:55
sudo ip link set dev eth0 up
(Replace 00:11:22:33:44:55 with your required MAC address.)
  2. Assign a Static IP (if required by ISP):

sudo ip addr add x.x.x.x/24 dev eth0
sudo ip route add default via y.y.y.y
(Replace x.x.x.x with your assigned IP and y.y.y.y with the ISP's gateway.)
  3. Enable Internet Sharing to Fritz!Box (Optional)
    • If you want your Fritz!Box to get the internet from your Linux PC, enable NAT and IP forwarding on Linux.

Option 3: Try Custom Firmware (Freetz) on Fritz!Box

If you must use only the Fritz!Box, the only way to change the MAC address is through Freetz (custom firmware).

Freetz MAC Spoofing Steps:

  1. Install Freetz (Custom Firmware for Fritz!Box).
  2. Enable SSH access to the router.
  3. Manually set the MAC address:
ip link set dev eth0 address 00:11:22:33:44:55
4. Manually assign a static IP(if required by ISP):
ip addr add x.x.x.x/24 dev eth0
ip route add default via y.y.y.y
WARNING: Installing Freetz requires advanced knowledge and may void your warranty.

Conclusion (Best Option)

✅ Best & Easiest: Use an external router (OpenWrt, MikroTik, pfSense) → Set MAC & IP in WAN settings.
✅ Temporary Fix: Use a Linux PC as a gateway → Spoof MAC & set IP manually.
Risky: Try Freetz (custom firmware) on Fritz!Box → Requires flashing firmware.

What do you need this for anyway?

I need to change the mac in this Fritzbox
fiber optic protection

If I could do that, I would have internet access on this model

and so I have to wait until Tuesday for the service provider to assign the router's MAC address to my system
